On 01/27/14 School Officials alerted the Massac County Sheriff's Department of a child that had visible bruising. Investigators say they found obvious signs of injuries to the child. After conducting interviews, Investigators arrested 27 year old Samantha Fiori of Metropolis and charged her with Aggravated Domestic Battery. It was determined that Fiori was caring for the child at the time the injuries occurred. Illinois Department of Child and Family Services assisted with the investigation.
Massac County Sheriff's Investigators had been investigating two Vehicle Break-In's that had occurred in the early morning of 01/13/14 on Country Club Rd. and Massac Creek Rd.. On 01/17/14 two more vehicle break-in's occurred in the early morning hours on North Ave. near the Gallagher Subdivision area. In the break-in's, items stolen were child car seats, prescription medication and a digital camera. Today, 01/17/14, Deputies went to a residence on Barger Dr. in Metropolis to question 31 year old Megan Story of Metropolis. There, Investigators discovered 2 stolen child's car seats, the stolen camera and a stolen electric blanket. Megan Story was arrested for the vehicle break-in's. A search warrant was later executed and prescription medication not belonging to Story was located. Also located during the search were several items related to a Residential Burglary in Pope County that had occurred on 01/16/14. Pope County authorities assisted and recovered the stolen items. It was discovered that Megan Story was committing the Burglaries with her 8 month old son in her vehicle. Story was charged by Investigators with 4 counts of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle and possession of a Controlled Substance. It is expected that she will be charged with the Residential Burglary in Pope County within the week. Story is on probation at this time for Residential Burglary. At approximately 11:30am 01/15/14, the Sheriffs Office received a anonymous report that Thomas McBride and Gabriel McBride were using drugs in front of children at 116 Lindsey addition in Metropolis. A check of local warrants showed that both Gabriel and Thomas McBride were wanted on warrants for Revocation of Probation for a Domestic Battery in Massac County. Upon deputies arrival they saw Gabriel McBride looking out the front door. Deputies approached both the front door and back door of the residence. As the deputies approached the rear door Gabriel ran out the back door and into the yard trying to escape. Two deputies were able to subdue McBride and place him under arrest. A search of the residence revealed drug paraphernalia but Thomas McBride was not in the residence. Gabriel McBride was transported to the Massac County Detention Center. Massac County Deputies began taking reports of vehicle break-ins in the area of the Metropolis Country Club and the Lakeview Dr. area. One victim reported the theft of car stereo equipment and a wallet. The victim was alerted that the card was being used at gas stations and Wal-Mart on Hinkleville Rd. in Paducah. Investigators began working with Wal-Mart on surveillance video of the offender using the stolen card. At the same time, another victim reported the theft of various items from his vehicle. Items included jackets, sunglasses and an Ipad. Investigators used the "Find my Ipad" app on the Ipad to track it's locations. This led investigators to the area of 28th and Jackson St. in Paducah. There, Investigators located 22 year old Tyler Mckendree of Metropolis. Paducah police assisted Investigators there. It was discovered that Tyler Mckendree had a warrant for Failure to Appear out of McCracken County. McKendree was arrested by Paducah Police on the warrant. At the time of his arrest, Mckendree was wearing a jacket that was reported stolen earlier from the Country Club area. Also located on McKendree were the stolen sunglasses and the stolen Ipad. A second Ipad was also located and found to be stolen from the Lakeview Dr. area. In McKendree's vehicle, Investigators located the stolen stereo equipment. Paducah Police also charged McKendree with Receiving Stolen Property. It is believed that more vehicle's may have been Burglarized in this area. Curtis Styers, the man Wanted by the Massac County Sheriff's Dept. has been captured. Several tip were received after we posted the Warrant. Tips were forwarded to the Paducah Police Dept. Acting on the tip, Officers with the Paducah Police Dept. searched the Motel 6 on Hinkleville Rd. in Paducah and located Styers. We would like to thank everyone that sent us tips and the Paducah Police Dept. for acting on the tips. After discovering a Meth Lab in the 6700 block of South US HWY 45 on 12/31/13, Investigators were able to gather evidence that was turned over to the Massac County States Attorney. A warrant was issued for 46 year old Curtis Styers. Curtis Styers is known to frequent the Lawrence Motel in Brookport as well as places in and around Paducah, KY. Curtis Styers is known to be in the company of Charity McManus (also known as Charity Day and Charity Mayes).
