On 10/18/13 a Burglary was reported in the 6900 block of US HWY 45 South. The homeowner reported several items missing from the Burglary. Items reported are: Matthews Compound Bow, Gold Rope necklace with Cross, Yellow Gold Necklace with Anchor Pendant, Diamond Loop Earrings, Yellow Gold Ruby Ring, Hewlett Packard Laptop, Bose Radio with Headphones, Assorted Paintings and Prescription Ray-Ban Glasses. On 10/19/13 a person travelling on ILL 145 reported that he was the victim of a Road Rage incident. The suspect vehicle involved was located in Brookport and stopped by Brookport Police. The victim said he was threatened by a man with a club while on ILL 145 after he was forced to stop on the roadway. A "club" was located in the suspect vehicle. Arrested was 23 year old Jakob Smith of Brookport. Smith was charged with Aggravated Assault. On 10/19/13 a Deputy was attempting to locate 21 year old Cody Smith of Brookport as part of an investigation he was conducting. The Deputy located Smith in his vehicle in the Unionville area. Upon completing the investigation, Cody Smith was arrested and charged with DUI. Looking for owner of Outboard MotorRecently the Massac County Sheriff's Dept. recovered an outboard motor in the Unionville area. The motor appeared to be stolen. The motor was located near the Long Lake area and it is believed that it may have been stolen from that area. On 10/07/13 a Deputy spotted 51 year old Roy Clifton Berkley as he was entering the Massac County Courthouse. The Deputy was aware that Berkley had an outstanding warrant out of Massac County. Clifton was arrested and lodged at the Massac County Detention Center on a $1,000 cash bond. Berkley had been sought on warrants for Enhanced Domestic Battery and Violation of an OP. On 09/29/13 a Resident of Country Club Rd. reported that a car hauler trailer he had just purchased was stolen from his residence. The victim had bought the trailer off of 32 year old Ronald W. Greer of Tennessee. An investigation showed that Ronald Greer was a suspect in Livingston County, KY for stealing a car hauler trailer. The trailer turned up in McCracken County and was recovered. It is believed that Ronald Greer stole the trailer from Livingston County and sold it in Massac County, then stole the trailer from the person in Massac County. Charges in the report are pending on 32 year old Ronald Greer of Tennessee in Massac, Livingston and McCracken County.
